    About

    Roger Campo is an American singer/songwriter who was born and raised in New York and now resides in California. 2011 brings the release of Roger’s latest album Subversive Soul.

    Roger’s music is best described, as Neo Rock and Soul, a modern hybrid of vintage album oriented radio, fused with relevant and contemporary lyrics. His songs are woven together with strong melodies, catchy hooks and well-crafted lyrics. These lyrics can range from deeply personal in songs such as This Train;

    This Train

    Born And Raised In Queens
    Born To Limited Means
    Watching Your Parents Struggle, Day After Day
    You Learn To Limit Your Dreams

    to outright joyful in Just You Wait or quirky in songs like Blame It On Love;

    Blame It On Love

    You Can’t Blame Newton – For Falling in Love
    You Can’t Blame Pythagoras – If It Don’t Add Up
    You Can’t Blame Einstein – If Your Universe Ain’t Right
    Blame It All On Me – Blame It All On Love

    As a singer, his delivery is passionate, emotive and heartfelt, leaving the listener with the sense that Roger not only wrote the song, but more importantly, lived it.

    The album was produced & arranged by Brett Rosenberg who has produced several recording acts in his native Australia as well as scored several feature films including Half Light, starring Demi Moore for which he received widespread praise.

    The album was recorded by Carmen Grillo, former guitarist of the legendary group Tower of Power at his studio Big Surprise Music Studio. In addition to performing, Carmen has also written songs for Tower of Power, Chicago and a score of other international artists.

    The album was mixed by Marc Greene, who has worked on numerous Jude Cole and Keith Emerson albums in addition to a variety of other projects, which have included Aretha Franklin, Shawn Colvin, Cheap Trick, Ian Hunter and Smokey Robinson.

    The album was mastered by Grammy winning mastering engineer Gavin Lurssen, whose credits are too numerous to list. Gavin’s fourth Grammy and first Latin Grammy was awarded November, 2010 for his work on Diego Torres’ album Distinto. His third Grammy came in 2009 for mastering the album “Raising Sand,” performed by Robert Plant and Alisson Krauss and produced by T Bone Burnett, which won Album of the Year.
